The Ainsworth rubber dam punch is a precision dental instrument used to create accurately sized holes in rubber dam material, allowing the dam to pass over the crowns of teeth during isolation procedures. The instrument operates by squeezing the handles together, which drives a plunger through the rubber and into a hole on a rotating metal table or die block . The punch was invented by Dr. George Cook Ainsworth, a prominent Boston dentist, and was first introduced by the S.S. White Dental Manufacturing Co. in 1879
